Earlier in August this year, after about two yeas of red hair, I dyed it black, thinking i'd look like Noel Fielding, or Joan Jett, because that was the hairstyle I have...
In the end the black was so harsh that it made me look ridiculous... so I used some Scott Cornwall Colour B4 Extra Strength to remove it.
After that my hair went from this...
A very emo looking me, with my full fringe growing out and having to be brushed over one eye... not helping.
To this colour, my natural colour!
However... the only problem was, and I was not aware of this, is that over the following week, and regular shampoo washes that occur in that time, the colour started to fade back to the black colour, I think, in part due to the fact that must have not rinsed my hair for as long as instructed, as when you rinse your hair, the dye molecules are removed, and over the next week, any remaining ones re-oxidise. So the black wasn't back, but a dark brown was.
As you can see here, it's a lot darker, this was after applying a red over the top, but you can see, it was hardly noticeable, but I could live with it, as it was nowhere near as harsh as the black was.
Anyway, the other day, I bought a second box of colour b4, hoping to try again...
Here you can see in the light that the red I put over it has tinted my hair to this nice kind of auburn brown colour, it, however, still isn't super light.
Here you can see it looking more brown (as well as a makeup trial that i will post more about later...)
Now, i've been washing it with the Buffer that comes with the Colour B4 kit, because I had enough left over, and using that hasn't faded it, and should, in theory, ensure that all of the molecules are washed out, as well as they can be.
Now, I doubt this is going to go any lighter without bleach, something I'm not keen on trying just yet, until I've no other choice.
So, I'm going into town tomorrow, to buy some Live XXL Luminance Infra-red colour, as the Luminance range lightens with each dye, as it contains trace amounts of peroxide, just enough to lighten it, it's made especially for dark hair, so hopefully, come tomorrow evening, I should have lighter... redder hair! :D
My hair already has really obvious traces of red in it, but the black seems to be going, so hopefully I got most of the history of the black dye out for good... and the red is now all that remains, meaning it should stick to the new red colour.
Colour B4 advises a semi-permanent dye to start with... but i'm really rather impatient, so I will probably go with the XXL Luminance range because at least that way I know for sure that it can't really go any darker, due to the peroxide.
Also i used to use this, and it wasn't too bad, I used to joke that the woman looked like me, because she had the same complexion and hair style, similar eye colour and lip shape. Only, she's been airbrushed, but other than that... yeah ;)
Here's hoping i get similar to the photo, I'm thinking that due to the reddy orange tones already in my hair, it should cling well.
WISH ME LUCK!
